Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Solución Evacuante Bohm is an osmotic laxative and bowel cleansing agent developed by Laboratorios Bohm. It is a multi-ingredient formulation consisting of Macrogol 4000 (polyethylene glycol 4000) and a balanced blend of electrolytes, including sodium chloride, potassium chloride, sodium sulfate, sodium bicarbonate, and sodium phosphate. The product works through an osmotic mechanism; Macrogol 4000 and the sulfate salts retain water within the intestinal lumen, which increases stool volume and stimulates peristalsis, leading to bowel evacuation. The inclusion of electrolytes helps to maintain the body's water and electrolyte balance during the purgative process. It is primarily indicated for bowel preparation prior to colonoscopy, surgery, or radiological examinations, and for the treatment of chronic non-organic constipation.
