Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Soludronate is a topical formulation of alendronic acid, a nitrogen-containing bisphosphonate, developed by Xeolas Pharmaceuticals Limited. It is specifically designed for local application to the alveolar bone following tooth extraction to modulate bone remodeling and prevent alveolar bone loss. By inhibiting farnesyl pyrophosphate synthase (FPPS) in the mevalonate pathway, alendronic acid disrupts osteoclast activity and induces apoptosis, thereby reducing bone resorption. This topical approach aims to provide localized therapeutic benefits in dental procedures while minimizing systemic exposure associated with oral bisphosphonate therapy.
