Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SomaDex is a carbohydrate-drug conjugate (CDC) developed by DexTech Medical AB, utilizing the proprietary GuaDex platform. It consists of natural somatostatin-14 linked to a charge-modified dextran molecule. This design stabilizes the peptide, extending its half-life from approximately 3 minutes to 37 hours while maintaining high binding affinity for all five somatostatin receptor subtypes (SSTR1-5). SomaDex is primarily intended for the treatment of neuroendocrine tumors and acromegaly, as well as for the palliative treatment of metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC). Clinical pilot studies have demonstrated a favorable safety profile and disease-stabilizing effects, including reductions in bone metastases in advanced prostate cancer patients.
