Overview

Somatropin pegol is a long-acting, investigational form of human growth hormone (hGH) designed for the treatment of growth hormone deficiency. It is a pegylated (polyethylene glycol-conjugated) recombinant human growth hormone, which extends its half-life and allows for less frequent dosing compared to standard somatropin. The drug acts by binding to the growth hormone receptor, stimulating skeletal and muscle growth as well as protein production, mimicking the effects of endogenous hGH. Somatropin pegol has been studied in clinical trials for use in adults and children with growth hormone deficiency[2][4].
