SOMCL-171 is a novel aporphine derivative that acts as a dual agonist at the dopamine D2 receptor and the serotonin 5-HT1A receptor. It was developed as a potential treatment for Parkinson's disease, specifically targeting both antiparkinsonian effects and reduction of levodopa-induced dyskinesia. In preclinical models, SOMCL-171 demonstrated potent antiparkinsonian efficacy with minimal dyskinesia and has shown the ability to attenuate the development of levodopa-induced dyskinesia without compromising the beneficial effects on motor symptoms. Its antidyskinetic properties are linked to its agonist activity at the 5-HT1A receptor and subsequent upregulation of striatal 5-HT1A expression[1][7][9].
