SON-1420 is a cytokine-based immunotherapy developed by Sonnet BioTherapeutics, consisting of interleukin-15 (IL-15) fused to their proprietary Fully Human Albumin Binding (FHAB) platform, which is often referred to as an aFc (albumin-binding Fc-like) domain. IL-15 is a potent cytokine that plays a critical role in the development, survival, and activation of natural killer (NK) cells and effector memory CD8+ T cells, both of which are essential for anti-tumor immunity. By utilizing the FHAB technology, SON-1420 is designed to bind to human serum albumin, thereby extending its serum half-life and potentially improving its accumulation within the tumor microenvironment. This approach aims to enhance the therapeutic efficacy of IL-15 while reducing the systemic toxicities and frequent dosing requirements associated with native IL-15 administration. SON-1420 is currently being developed for the treatment of various solid tumors.
