Overview

Sonepcizumab is a humanized monoclonal antibody that targets sphingosine 1-phosphate (S1P), a bioactive lipid involved in processes such as angiogenesis, tumor cell proliferation, metastasis, and survival. By binding to S1P, sonepcizumab acts as a molecular sponge to reduce its signaling, thereby inhibiting tumor angiogenesis and growth. It has been investigated for antiangiogenic and antineoplastic activities in cancer therapy and for eye disorders such as wet age-related macular degeneration. The drug was originally developed by Lpath and later by Pfizer[1][2][3][5].
