Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Songling Xuemai Kang Capsules (SXC) is a traditional Chinese patent medicine developed by Chengdu Kanghong Pharmaceutical and its subsidiary Sichuan Jishengtang Pharmaceutical. Approved in China in 1996, it is formulated from three main natural ingredients: fresh pine needles, *Pueraria lobata* (Gegen), and pearl powder. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of primary hypertension and primary hyperlipidemia, particularly in patients presenting with symptoms of liver-yang hyperactivity such as headache, dizziness, irritability, palpitations, and insomnia. Mechanistically, the capsule exerts its therapeutic effects by regulating the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS), improving vascular endothelial function, reducing blood viscosity, and providing antioxidant and central sedative effects. In addition to its approved cardiovascular indications, Songling Xuemai Kang Capsules are being evaluated in Phase II clinical trials for functional premature ventricular contractions caused by non-organic heart disease and cerebral small vessel disease.
