Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Sonomedin is a multi-ingredient nutraceutical product developed by NutriMed Group, primarily indicated for the management of sleep disorders and the normalization of circadian rhythms. Its formulation typically combines melatonin, L-theanine, and valerian extract. Melatonin serves as an exogenous agonist for MT1 and MT2 receptors in the suprachiasmatic nucleus, mimicking the natural hormone to regulate the sleep-wake cycle. L-theanine, an amino acid found in tea, and valerian extract work synergistically to promote relaxation and reduce sleep latency by modulating the GABAergic system, specifically increasing inhibitory neurotransmission. This combination is used to address insomnia, improve sleep quality, and mitigate the effects of jet lag or shift work.
