Soralex

**Soralex** is a multi-ingredient topical cream developed and evaluated in Ecuador for mild-to-moderate psoriasis, including plaque psoriasis. The formulation contains salicylic acid, animal lard, sublimed sulfur, potassium aluminum sulfate, petrolatum, and bay essential oil. Its intended effects are primarily local and physicochemical: salicylic acid and sulfur provide keratolytic and desquamating activity, while petrolatum and lard provide emollient and occlusive skin-barrier support; sulfur, alum, and bay essential oil were intended to contribute antimicrobial, astringent, soothing, and anti-inflammatory effects. A randomized controlled clinical study compared twice-daily application of the cream with topical betamethasone over 10 days and reported improvement in erythema, infiltration, desquamation, pruritus, PASI, and affected body-surface area. The product was reported as commercially authorized in Ecuador in February 2023.
