Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Sorunjan is a traditional Uygur medicinal product developed and manufactured by Xinjiang Uygur Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of acute gouty arthritis. The preparation is derived from the corms of *Colchicum luteum* (or *Colchicum autumnale*), and its therapeutic efficacy is largely attributed to the presence of the alkaloid colchicine. The mechanism of action involves binding to tubulin, which inhibits microtubule polymerization. This interference disrupts various cellular processes, most notably the chemotaxis, adhesion, and phagocytosis of neutrophils, thereby attenuating the inflammatory response and providing relief from the intense pain and swelling characteristic of acute gout flares.
