Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Sotirimod is a small molecule immunomodulator that acts as an agonist of Toll-like receptor 7 (TLR7). It was originally developed by 3M Pharmaceuticals and later licensed to Meda for development in Europe. Sotirimod was investigated primarily for the treatment of actinic keratosis and other skin infections or disorders. Its mechanism involves stimulating the immune system via TLR7 activation, similar to imiquimod (Aldara), with reported antitumor and antiviral activity. Clinical development reached up to phase II/III trials for actinic keratosis but there are no recent reports of further progress[1][2][3][4][5].
