Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Sound Asleep Gummies are a consumer wellness product developed by Medterra, designed to support sleep and address insomnia-related concerns. Formulated as a full-spectrum hemp-derived edible, each gummy contains a combination of 5mg delta-9 THC, 50mg CBD, 3mg melatonin, and 100mg L-theanine. The product leverages the 'entourage effect,' where cannabinoids and supplemental ingredients work synergistically to interact with the endocannabinoid system and circadian rhythm regulators. Specifically, THC acts as an agonist at cannabinoid receptors (CB1 and CB2) to promote relaxation, while melatonin serves as an exogenous hormone to signal the sleep-wake cycle by targeting melatonin receptors. L-theanine is included to promote relaxation by modulating neurotransmitters such as glutamate. It is marketed under the 2018 Farm Bill as a hemp-derived product containing less than 0.3% THC by dry weight.
