Drug intelligence / Profile preview
South America spider antivenom is a polyvalent equine-derived antivenom developed by Inosan Biopharma for the treatment of spider envenomation in South America. The therapeutic consists of F(ab')2 immunoglobulin fragments produced by immunizing horses with venom from clinically significant South American spiders, such as *Loxosceles* (recluse spiders) and *Phoneutria* (armed spiders). These fragments work by binding to and neutralizing the circulating toxins in the venom, preventing them from interacting with their physiological targets and mitigating the systemic and local effects of the bite. It is currently in Phase 1 clinical development.
