Overview

Soy peptide refers to a mixture of small peptides derived from the enzymatic hydrolysis of soy protein isolate. These bioactive peptides are rich in essential amino acids and are considered "complete proteins" for human nutrition. Soy peptides have been shown to possess various functional properties including immunomodulatory, antioxidant, hypocholesterolemic effects, and potential benefits for diabetes, obesity, serum lipids regulation, and undernutrition[1][2][3]. They can reprogram hepatic lipid metabolism and restore mitochondrial function in models of undernutrition[2][3]. Soy peptides are also used as conditioning agents in cosmetic products due to their beneficial effects on skin health[5]. In clinical studies and pilot trials they have demonstrated potential benefits such as improved quality of life among cancer patients experiencing weight loss[7], possible cognitive function support[8], and skin health improvements in postmenopausal women when consumed as part of the diet[6].
