Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SP-15001 is a discontinued drug candidate that was being developed by Spherium Biomed for the treatment of kidney diseases, including potential applications in diabetic nephropathy and acute kidney injury. Spherium Biomed was a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company established as a joint venture between the Spanish pharmaceutical company Ferrer and Janus Pharmaceuticals to advance innovative biomedical projects, often through partnerships with academic and research institutions. SP-15001 was part of a pipeline that was eventually integrated into Ferrer after the latter acquired full control of Spherium Biomed in 2018. Following this transition, the development of SP-15001 was halted. As the drug was in the early stages of development (discovery or preclinical) at the time of its discontinuation, specific details regarding its molecular target and pharmacological profile remain proprietary and are not widely documented in public literature.
