Overview

SP-2 (also known as MP-1959) is a preclinical-stage monoclonal antibody developed by MediaPharma. It specifically targets Galectin-3 Binding Protein (LGALS3BP), a secreted glycoprotein that is highly expressed in various solid tumors and is associated with cancer progression, metastasis, and tumor angiogenesis. By binding to LGALS3BP, SP-2 aims to inhibit its pro-tumorigenic functions, particularly its role in promoting new blood vessel formation within the tumor microenvironment. The drug is being investigated for the treatment of breast cancer and colorectal cancer, leveraging its potential to disrupt tumor growth and vascularization.
