Overview

SP-6-37 is a novel chromene analog developed as a small-molecule microtubule destabilizer for the treatment of ovarian cancer. It functions by inhibiting tubulin polymerization, which disrupts the dynamic instability of microtubules required for cell division, ultimately triggering apoptosis. Research from the Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science has shown that SP-6-37 is effective against both cisplatin-sensitive and cisplatin-resistant ovarian cancer cell lines (such as A2780, SKOV-3, TOV112D, and OVCAR-3), while maintaining low cytotoxicity toward normal ovarian epithelial cells.
