Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**SP-94-P-L-D** is an experimental hepatocellular carcinoma-targeted liposomal doxorubicin formulation in which the SP-94 tumor-targeting peptide is linked to dextran-coated liposomal doxorubicin. It was evaluated in hepatoma xenograft mouse models, where peptide-directed delivery was intended to improve tumor localization of doxorubicin while reducing off-target toxicity. Its cytotoxic payload, doxorubicin, intercalates DNA and inhibits topoisomerase II, causing impaired nucleic-acid synthesis and DNA damage. The formulation is a preclinical research asset and is not an established marketed medicine. ([journals.sagepub.com](https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/pdf/10.1177/1849543519880762))
