SP0268 is an investigational mRNA-based vaccine candidate being developed by Sanofi, in collaboration with Amgen, for the treatment of acne vulgaris. The vaccine utilizes messenger RNA technology to induce a targeted immune response against *Cutibacterium acnes* (formerly *Propionibacterium acnes*), a commensal bacterium that plays a key role in the inflammatory pathogenesis of acne. By delivering mRNA encoding specific bacterial antigens, SP0268 aims to modulate the host immune system to reduce the inflammation and lesion formation associated with acne, offering a potential alternative to long-term antibiotic use or systemic retinoids. The program entered Phase 2 clinical development following Sanofi's acquisition of Origimm Biotechnology and the integration of its acne vaccine research into Sanofi's mRNA Center of Excellence.
