Overview

SP330 is a novel, orally active small molecule selective progesterone receptor modulator (SPRM) being developed by Nanjing Sanzhong Pharmaceutical Technology. It is classified as a Class 1 innovative drug in China and is primarily indicated for the treatment of adenomyosis, a condition where endometrial tissue grows into the muscular wall of the uterus. As an SPRM, SP330 binds to progesterone receptors and exerts tissue-specific effects, aiming to reduce the volume of adenomyotic lesions and alleviate symptoms such as heavy menstrual bleeding and pelvic pain. Unlike GnRH agonists, SPRMs typically maintain estrogen levels within a range that avoids severe bone mineral density loss and vasomotor symptoms. SP330 is currently undergoing Phase II clinical evaluation to determine its safety and efficacy in patients with adenomyosis.
