Overview
SP73C1086 is an orally available, highly selective allosteric agonist of prokineticin receptor 1 (PROKR1) being developed for the treatment of sarcopenic obesity and age-related sarcopenia. Derived from the hit compound SP73C1001, SP73C1086 promotes oxidative muscle fiber specification and mitochondrial biogenesis by activating the pCreb-Nr4a2-Pgc1α signaling axis. In preclinical models of diet-induced sarcopenic obesity and aging, the compound has demonstrated the ability to reduce fat mass, increase lean muscle mass, enhance grip strength, improve metabolic profiles, and rejuvenate neuromuscular junction architecture.
