Overview

SPARC siRNA refers to small interfering RNA molecules designed to target and silence the expression of Secreted Protein Acidic and Rich in Cysteine (SPARC, also known as osteonectin). SPARC is a matricellular glycoprotein that plays a key role in tissue remodeling, extracellular matrix deposition, cell adhesion, migration, and angiogenesis. Its overexpression is associated with poor prognosis, tumor progression, and metastasis in various cancers (such as breast cancer, melanoma, and gastric cancer), as well as pathological fibrosis in diseases like scleroderma and pulmonary fibrosis. SPARC siRNA mediates the sequence-specific degradation of SPARC mRNA, thereby inhibiting SPARC protein synthesis and suppressing downstream oncogenic and profibrotic pathways in preclinical models.
