SPARC122

SPARC122 is an antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) being developed by Sun Pharma Advanced Research Company (SPARC) for the treatment of solid tumors. The therapeutic consists of a monoclonal antibody directed against Mucin 1 (MUC1), a cell surface glycoprotein that is aberrantly glycosylated and overexpressed in a variety of epithelial cancers. The antibody is conjugated to monomethyl auristatin E (MMAE), a potent microtubule-disrupting agent. Upon binding to MUC1 on the tumor cell surface, the ADC is internalized, and MMAE is released, leading to cell cycle arrest and apoptosis. This targeted approach aims to enhance the therapeutic index of the cytotoxic payload while minimizing off-target effects.
