Overview

SPARC129 is a bispecific T-cell engager (BiTE) being developed by Sun Pharma Advanced Research Company (SPARC) for the treatment of solid tumors. As a T-cell engager, the molecule is designed to simultaneously bind to a specific tumor-associated antigen (TAA) on cancer cells and the CD3 subunit of the T-cell receptor complex on T lymphocytes. This dual binding facilitates the formation of an immunological synapse, leading to T-cell activation and the subsequent release of cytotoxic granules (perforin and granzymes) to induce apoptosis in the target tumor cells. While the specific tumor-associated antigen targeted by SPARC129 has not been publicly disclosed, the program is part of SPARC's broader effort to utilize bispecific antibody platforms to address the challenges of treating solid malignancies.
