Overview

Spartalizumab + taminadenant is a combination therapy consisting of two distinct agents. Spartalizumab is a monoclonal antibody that binds to programmed cell death-1 (PD-1), blocking its interaction with programmed cell death ligand-1 (PD-L1) to restore effector T-cell function. Taminadenant (PBF509/NIR178) is a potent and selective adenosine 2A receptor (A2AR) antagonist that inhibits A2AR expressed on T lymphocytes, thus abrogating the adenosine/A2AR-mediated inhibition of T-lymphocytes and activating a T-cell-mediated immune response against tumor cells. The combination aims to enhance activation of the immune system and effector function against cancer cells.
