SpayVac

SpayVac is a single-dose, long-acting immunocontraceptive vaccine used primarily for controlling fertility in wildlife, livestock, and companion animals. Its main active ingredient is porcine zona pellucida (pZP) or other zona pellucida antigens, delivered using a patented liposome-based delivery platform (such as VacciMax or DepoVax) that enhances immunogenicity and longevity by gradually releasing the antigen to the immune system[1][6][10]. After injection, SpayVac stimulates an antibody response against the zona pellucida membrane surrounding the egg, thereby blocking sperm binding and preventing fertilization. This immune response is robust, tissue-specific, and can last for multiple years without the need for booster shots[1][6][10]. Developed for use in feral horses, deer, seals, domestic cats, and aquaculture species, SpayVac represents a humane, non-surgical approach to animal population control, with applications currently under regulatory review for feral horses and deer[5][9][10].
