Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SPC-02 is a preclinical-stage antimicrobial therapeutic being developed by Collidion and its subsidiary, Spectrum Antimicrobials. The candidate utilizes a proprietary "Weaponized Protein Technology" to deliver hypochlorous acid (HOCl), a potent oxidative agent, to the site of infection. SPC-02 is specifically designed to combat antibiotic-resistant bacteria (superbugs) and penetrate bacterial biofilms, which are significant barriers to conventional antibiotic efficacy. The mechanism involves the rapid oxidation of bacterial components, leading to cell death without the typical resistance mechanisms associated with traditional antibiotics.
