Overview

SPC-15 is a novel small molecule drug developed as an intranasal serotonin 4 (5-HT4) receptor agonist for the targeted prophylactic treatment of stress-induced affective disorders, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, and major depressive disorder. It utilizes biomarkers to optimize patient selection and therapeutic response. The drug features a patented nose-to-brain delivery system that bypasses the blood-brain barrier, resulting in rapid absorption and heightened brain concentrations for faster onset of action and improved safety. Preclinical studies have also explored a dual-action approach combining SPC-15 with an NMDA receptor antagonist, which demonstrated enhanced efficacy in animal models for severe psychiatric conditions compared to monotherapy. SPC-15 is being advanced by Silo Pharma under exclusive license from Columbia University and remains in preclinical development.
