SPC4001

SPC4001 is a monotherapy formulation of amlodipine (5 mg) developed by Shin Poong Pharmaceutical for the treatment of essential hypertension. Amlodipine is a long-acting calcium channel blocker that inhibits the transmembrane influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle. This inhibition results in the relaxation of arterial smooth muscle and a decrease in peripheral vascular resistance, leading to a reduction in blood pressure. In clinical trials, SPC4001 has served as an active comparator to evaluate the efficacy and safety of fixed-dose combination therapies, such as the triple combination SPC1001 (candesartan, amlodipine, and indapamide).
