Overview

spCART-269 is an investigational autologous CAR-T cell therapy targeting CD269, also known as B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA). Developed by Shanghai Tongji Hospital at the Tongji University School of Medicine, it is specifically designed for the treatment of relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma. The therapy consists of genetically engineered T cells that express a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) designed to recognize BCMA, a protein predominantly expressed on the surface of malignant plasma cells. Upon administration, these engineered cells target and eliminate BCMA-expressing myeloma cells. Clinical evaluation has primarily occurred through a Phase 1 study (NCT04500431) focusing on safety, feasibility, and preliminary therapeutic activity in patients who have failed prior lines of therapy.
