SPD8

SPD8 is a proposed biosimilar to denosumab, which is a monoclonal antibody that targets and inhibits RANK ligand (RANKL), a key mediator of osteoclast formation, function, and survival. By inhibiting RANKL, denosumab reduces bone resorption and increases bone mass and strength in both cortical and trabecular bone. Denosumab is marketed under the brand names Prolia (for osteoporosis) and Xgeva (for prevention of skeletal-related events in patients with bone metastases from solid tumors). SPD8 is being developed as a biosimilar version intended to offer similar efficacy and safety profiles as the original denosumab products[5].
