It consists of synthetic nucleic acids (DNA or RNA) prepared at ultra-low doses, designed to regulate the immune system's response to viral pathogens. Specifically, SNA-HLA I is intended to modulate the expression and function of Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) Class I molecules. HLA Class I proteins are critical for the presentation of intracellular viral antigens to CD8+ cytotoxic T lymphocytes, which are the primary effectors in the elimination of virally infected cells. By optimizing this antigen presentation pathway, SNA-HLA I aims to enhance the body's natural defense mechanisms against the Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV), thereby reducing the frequency, duration, and severity of orofacial herpes outbreaks and other HSV-related infections.
