Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Spermidine-dextran copolymer is a bioactive copolymer synthesized by conjugating spermidine and dextran. It is being investigated for its potential to promote wound healing and reduce scar formation, particularly in the prostatic urethra following transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP). The copolymer acts as an antioxidant to scavenge reactive oxygen species (ROS), thereby suppressing oxidative stress. This inhibition downregulates the PI3K/Akt pathway in urethra fibroblasts, preventing the activation of myofibroblasts and reducing hypertrophic scar formation while accelerating re-epithelialization.
