SPI-017

**SPI-017** is an investigational prostone compound developed by Sucampo Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of peripheral arterial disease and potentially central nervous system disorders. Prostones are synthetic prostaglandin analogs that activate chloride channels, such as the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR), to promote chloride and fluid secretion, which may improve vascular function in peripheral arterial disease by enhancing blood flow. It was in Phase I clinical trials in Japan as of around 2007, with plans for intravenous and oral formulations, though no recent updates indicate further advancement.[1][5][11]
