Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SpikoGen + inactivated influenza vaccine is a combination vaccine candidate being evaluated for simultaneous protection against COVID-19 and seasonal influenza. The COVID-19 component, SpikoGen (also known as COVAX-19), is a recombinant protein subunit vaccine containing the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein produced in insect cells. The influenza component consists of a standard inactivated seasonal influenza vaccine. The formulation is uniquely designed for mucosal administration via oral or sublingual routes, utilizing the Advax-CpG adjuvant (a combination of delta inulin and a TLR9 agonist) to enhance both mucosal IgA and systemic IgG immune responses. This approach aims to provide a needle-free vaccination option that can potentially block viral entry at the respiratory and oral mucosa.
