Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Spirofur is an oral combination diuretic medication developed and marketed by Bruno Farmaceutici. It contains spironolactone, a potassium-sparing mineralocorticoid receptor antagonist, and furosemide, a loop diuretic that inhibits the Na-K-2Cl cotransporter (NKCC2). This combination is designed to promote diuresis and reduce fluid overload while maintaining potassium balance. It is indicated for edematous states associated with congestive heart failure, ascitic cirrhosis, and nephrotic syndrome, as well as hypertension related to hyperaldosteronism or cases where other therapies are insufficient.
