Spizef

Spizef is a brand of cefuroxime, a second-generation cephalosporin antibiotic developed and manufactured by Orchid Chemicals and Pharma. It is utilized for the treatment of various bacterial infections, including those of the respiratory tract, urinary tract, skin, and soft tissues, as well as for surgical prophylaxis. The drug functions by binding to bacterial penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), thereby inhibiting the transpeptidation step of peptidoglycan synthesis. This disruption of cell wall assembly leads to bacterial cell lysis and death. Spizef is available in two distinct forms: cefuroxime axetil for oral administration (tablets) and cefuroxime sodium for parenteral administration (intravenous or intramuscular injection).
