SPK-8011QQ is an investigational, next-generation gene therapy developed by Spark Therapeutics, a subsidiary of Roche, for the treatment of hemophilia A. It utilizes a bioengineered adeno-associated virus (AAV) vector to deliver an enhanced-function variant of the coagulation factor VIII gene to the liver. Designed as a one-time intravenous infusion, the therapy aims to establish long-term, stable expression of the factor VIII protein, thereby reducing bleeding frequency and the burden of chronic factor replacement therapy. SPK-8011QQ is an optimized version of the earlier SPK-8011 (dirloctocogene samoparvovec) candidate, incorporating modifications intended to improve therapeutic efficacy.
