Overview

SPK004 is a monoclonal antibody developed by SpikImm that targets the VP1 capsid protein of both BK polyomavirus (BKPyV) and JC polyomavirus (JCPyV). By binding to the VP1 protein, the antibody neutralizes the virus and blocks its entry into host cells, thereby preventing or treating viral-associated complications. It is currently in preclinical development for BK virus-associated nephropathy (BKVAN) in kidney transplant recipients, BK virus-associated hemorrhagic cystitis in hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) patients, and progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML).
