SPL-850

SPL-850 (also known as GTI-850) is a preclinical-stage small molecule inhibitor of S-nitrosoglutathione reductase (GSNOR), currently under development by GSNOR Therapeutics. GSNOR is a key enzyme responsible for the metabolism of S-nitrosoglutathione (GSNO), the primary physiological reservoir of nitric oxide bioactivity. By inhibiting GSNOR, SPL-850 increases the levels of GSNO, which promotes S-nitrosylation of target proteins, thereby modulating various signaling pathways involved in inflammation, oxidative stress, and metabolic homeostasis. The compound is being explored for a variety of therapeutic applications, including Crohn's disease, diabetes, stroke, and ocular diseases, and is designed for multiple routes of administration such as oral, intravenous, and topical delivery.
