Overview
SPL-889 (also known as GTI-889) is a preclinical-stage small molecule inhibitor of S-nitrosoglutathione reductase (GSNOR), developed by GSNOR Therapeutics. GSNOR is an enzyme that regulates the levels of S-nitrosoglutathione (GSNO), a key signaling molecule in nitric oxide (NO) biology. By inhibiting GSNOR, SPL-889 aims to increase GSNO levels, which can exert anti-inflammatory and bronchodilatory effects. The drug is being investigated for the treatment of inflammatory conditions and is designed for both oral and intravenous administration.
