Spleen-and-Stomach-Tonifying, Yin-Fire-Purging, and Yang-Raising Decoction is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formula composed of multiple herbs. It is being investigated for its efficacy in treating macrovascular lesions caused by Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM). The therapeutic principles of this decoction involve strengthening the spleen and invigorating qi, raising yang, and purging yin fire to replenish spleen and stomach qi deficiency, increase clear yang, and decrease turbid yin. Its mechanism of action is associated with regulating the trimethylamine N-oxide (TMAO) metabolic pathway of intestinal microbiota, and it has shown effects on blood lipids, oxidative stress, and inflammatory responses.
