Sponge spicules gel is a topical dermatological formulation containing microscopic, needle-like structures (spicules) derived from freshwater sponges, most commonly *Spongilla lacustris*. These spicules function as natural microneedles that physically penetrate the skin's stratum corneum upon application and massage. This mechanical action creates micro-channels that facilitate the transdermal delivery of co-administered active ingredients and triggers the skin's natural wound-healing cascade. This process stimulates collagen and elastin production and accelerates cellular turnover. It is primarily utilized in aesthetic and clinical dermatology for the treatment of acne vulgaris, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, acne scarring, and skin rejuvenation.
