Sporlac

Sporlac is an Indian probiotic brand containing spores of lactic acid–producing bacteria, historically referred to as lactic acid bacillus or Lactobacillus sporogenes and now taxonomically classified as Bacillus coagulans, used primarily to restore and maintain healthy intestinal microflora in diarrheal and other gastrointestinal disorders.[10][12] The spore-forming Bacillus coagulans strain (e.g., SNZ1969 in Sporlac-branded products) survives gastric acidity, germinates in the small intestine, and produces lactic acid and other antimicrobial substances that inhibit pathogenic organisms, support recolonization with beneficial flora, and modulate local gut immunity.[2][10][12] Clinically, Sporlac and its high-strength variants (such as Sporlac DS) are widely prescribed in India, especially in pediatrics, as adjunctive therapy for acute and antibiotic-associated diarrhea, gastroenteritis, colitis, and functional gastrointestinal complaints like bloating and indigestion.[10][12]
