Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Sporolac Plus is a multi-strain probiotic formulation designed to restore and maintain a healthy microbial balance in the body. It typically contains a combination of beneficial bacteria and yeast, specifically **Lactobacillus acidophilus**, **Lactobacillus rhamnosus**, **Bifidobacterium longum**, **Bacillus coagulans** (formerly known as Lactobacillus sporogenes), and the yeast **Saccharomyces boulardii**. This combination works by competitively inhibiting the growth of pathogenic microorganisms, producing antimicrobial substances such as lactic acid and bacteriocins, and enhancing the host's immune response. While primarily used for gastrointestinal health and the treatment of diarrhea, it has also been investigated for oral health applications, such as reducing the levels of cariogenic bacteria like *Streptococcus mutans* in the dental plaque of high-risk individuals.
