SPR944

SPR944, also known as SPR720, is an orally administered small-molecule antibiotic being developed by Spero Therapeutics for the treatment of drug‑resistant bacterial infections, particularly complicated urinary tract infections (cUTI) and other serious gram‑negative infections. It is a next‑generation carbapenem-derived agent designed to have potent activity against multidrug‑resistant Enterobacteriaceae and other gram‑negative pathogens while being suitable for oral dosing, addressing an important gap in current carbapenem therapy which is largely limited to intravenous administration.[1][3] The program has received substantial non‑dilutive funding support from U.S. government agencies to advance clinical development.[1][3]
