Overview
SPT-2101 is a long-acting, sustained-release formulation of dexamethasone developed by Spiral Therapeutics for the treatment of Meniere's disease. It utilizes Spiral’s proprietary Minimally Invasive Cochlear System (MICS™) to deliver a 6% dexamethasone gel directly to the round window membrane of the inner ear, enabling targeted and extended drug release. This approach aims to provide precise, durable therapy for inner ear disorders while minimizing invasiveness. Clinical trials have demonstrated significant reductions in vertigo frequency and severity among patients with Meniere's disease, with no serious adverse events reported[1][3][4][7]. The mechanism of action is through glucocorticoid receptor agonism, providing anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive effects[10].
