SPU-16 Peptide (SPU-16) is a central nervous system (CNS) homing peptide being developed by Silo Pharma, under a license agreement with the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB), for the treatment of multiple sclerosis (MS) and other neuroinflammatory diseases. SPU-16 is designed to cross the blood-brain barrier and selectively target inflamed epithelium and damaged tissues within the spinal cord. By homing specifically to neuroinflammatory lesions, the peptide has the potential to act as a targeted drug delivery vehicle, enhancing the therapeutic efficacy of co-administered or conjugated therapeutic payloads while minimizing systemic toxicity. SPU-16 is currently in preclinical development.
