Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SPV106 (pentadecylidenemalonate 1b) is a synthetic small molecule modulator of histone acetyltransferases (HATs). It acts as a mixed activator/inhibitor, selectively potentiating the activity of p300/CBP-associated factor (PCAF, also known as KAT2B) while inhibiting the activity of p300 and CREB-binding protein (CBP). Originally developed by researchers at the University of Salerno as a simplified analogue of anacardic acid, SPV106 has been utilized as a chemical probe in preclinical research. It has demonstrated therapeutic potential in models of type 2 diabetes, cardiac remodeling, fear extinction memory, and wound healing by restoring histone acetylation levels (such as H3K9Ac and H3K14Ac) and reversing epigenetic dysregulation.
